Statement from County Executive Matthew L. Ossenfort Regarding COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution
“It is very unfortunate the way the state has rolled out the Covid-19 vaccine. On Friday, by opening up to Phase 1b he has created a massive demand with no supply in Montgomery County. The county and the local hospital have exhausted every effort to get a response from the state regarding vaccine delivery. As of now, we have no confirmation or guarantee that we will receive a vaccine supply this week.
We can’t even begin to prepare and register residents without confirmation of delivery.
Montgomery County and the local hospitals stand ready and are prepared to vaccinate hundreds of residents each day.
Currently we have 1100 responses to our survey as well as numerous requests from local businesses, teachers and first responders that cannot be fulfilled because of the lack of supply.
Unfortunately, we are at a standstill and it is my hope that we will receive answers shortly. In the meantime, I encourage residents to respond to the survey and stay tuned to the county social media pages where we will provide the most up to date information.
We will continue to fight to get residents answers. Our top priority is efficient and effective vaccine delivery in Montgomery County.”
