Council Appoints Bill Kyger to Fill Open Seat
The Council met Monday night for the second of two special sessions to consider candidates for the Council seat left vacant by Dr. Bill Miracle’s resignation. The Council voted to appoint William B. “Bill” Kyger, Jr. as interim Councilman.
Bill has spent the majority of his life in service to Bridgewater citizens and the greater community. A graduate of Bridgewater College, he served on the Bridgewater Town Council previously from 1984 to 1987. He was then elected to the Rockingham County Board of Supervisors in 1987 and served 36 years, representing the Town of Bridgewater and residents of District 4. Bill also taught history and government to generations of students at Turner Ashby High School and has been a long-time supporter of the Bridgewater Volunteer Rescue Squad.
The Council is thankful to Bill for his willingness to serve once more and look forward to drawing upon his decades of experience and wisdom. The Council also wishes to thank those who expressed interest and willingness to serve in the position.
Bill will be sworn in at tonight’s regular meeting and will continue on Council until a permanent replacement is determined by special election to be held in November.
