Powerball Jackpot Increased to $1 Billion

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The Powerball jackpot has been raised to an estimated $1 billion for the Wednesday, August 12, 2026 drawing, marking one of the biggest jackpots of the year and giving players across New Mexico a chance to dream about what they might do with a billion-dollar prize.

“A billion-dollar jackpot is an exciting moment for lottery players across New Mexico and the country,” said New Mexico Lottery CEO David Barden. “But as excitement grows around this jackpot, we want to encourage Lottery players to play responsibly and within their limits.”

Powerball tickets are $2 per play, and players can add Power Play for an additional $1 for a chance to multiply non-jackpot prizes. The Powerball jackpot can be won by matching all five white balls and the red Powerball.

Players in New Mexico have until 8 p.m. MT on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, to buy tickets for that night’s drawing.
