Government of Saskatchewan Strengthens Partnership with Roadways Literacy Academy to Support Student Literacy

The Government of Saskatchewan is strengthening its partnership with Roadways Literacy Academy through increased funding and a new service agreement that will support literacy programming and intensive services for students with specific learning disabilities.

Beginning in the 2026-27 school year, Roadways Literacy Academy will operate as an alternative independent school and receive $403,000 in funding through a service agreement with the Ministry of Education. This represents an increase of $175,000 over previous funding levels. 

"This enhanced funding reflects our government's confidence in Roadways Literacy Academy's proven results and our shared commitment to helping more Saskatchewan students build the literacy skills they need to succeed," Education Minister Everett Hindley said. "Strong literacy skills create opportunities for lifelong learning and success. Through this partnership, we are helping students overcome learning challenges and build the skills and confidence that will help them to reach their full potential."

The province will also provide up to $1.56 million to Roadways Literacy Academy from September 1, 2026, to March 31, 2029, to support educational programming and intensive direct services for students with specific learning styles. This funding will expand access to specialized literacy supports and help more students develop the foundational reading skills they need to succeed.

Most of all, it inspires us to keep growing, learning, and making a difference in our community."

This investment builds on the Government of Saskatchewan's partnership with Roadways Literacy Academy through the Student Literacy Pilot Program launched in 2024. That pilot program expanded access to specialized literacy assessments and interventions for students experiencing significant reading challenges and demonstrated the value of targeted, evidence-based supports.

Roadways Literacy Academy is a school and tutoring studio in Saskatoon that delivers the Saskatchewan curriculum to students in Grades 1 to 10.

Strong literacy outcomes remain a key priority for the Government of Saskatchewan, and funding provided through the Ministry of Education will support programming, services and ensuring more Saskatchewan students receive the targeted supports they need to achieve success at school and beyond.
